A Dream

I’m not much of a dreamer, or at least if I am, I don’t remember most of my dreams. The other night, however, I had a short dream which I clearly remembered the next day. At first when I thought about it just seemed really bizarre, like most of my dreams, but then I thought about what it could mean…if it was meant to have a meaning at all. Now God doesn’t normally speak to me in dreams, at least as far as I know…but this one I think has some pretty good implications. Here’s how it goes…

I’m standing behind and to the right of two men on a ship who are facing the sea. The man on the right seems to have no hope, or no reason for going on any longer. The man on his left suggests, “Why don’t you just throw yourself overboard?” “Come on,” he summons, “I’ll show you how.” I’m still standing behind, also noticing a piece of the ship that is missing a screw that I desperately want to replace but I don’t know where the screw is, because I wasn’t the one who broke it.

That was pretty much the dream…no resolution or anything, just left hanging like that. Looking at it from a spiritual perspective, I see the person watching in the dream as God, desperately wanting to put His creation back together. The person on the right is God’s child whom He wants to show that there is hope and a reason for living, but He can’t force himself into His child’s life, the child must also seek Him. Of course, the person to the left of this is Satan…seeking to tempt God’s child into despair. I’m reminded of the words of Jesus:

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10, NIV).

life

The question we need to ask ourselves is whose voice are we listening to. As Proverbs 14:12 says,

There is a way that seems right to a man,
but in the end it leads to death.

God desperately wants our attention. He desperately wants us to experience the fullness of life that is found only in Him. He wants us to know that "the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

God is here. Are you listening?

About Comments…

Um, just a warning….
…if you try posting a comment on any of my posts it has to be approved by me before it will appear (to prevent spam). Problem is, I can’t login to my comments to approve these, although I can see that there are comments awaiting approval. Why? I have no idea. But it’s driving me nuts. For now, if you really want to say something you can send me an email.

A New Post

I’ve finally logged into my blog and even made a few changes to its appearance, but realise I haven’t posted a single new thing for 9 months.

How boring.

Well, the thing is, I missed the apparent deadline for reregistering my domain name because I didn’t really feel like paying 10 dollars for another year if I wasn’t going to post anything. Then I decided maybe I do want to keep it, and hey it’s only 10 bucks, but discovered that it’s still good for another year. So good thing I didn’t pay another 10 dollars, I would have just got ripped off.

Anyway, as far life goes. . .well, I’m still hunting for a job but I have a feeling one’s coming up real soon. I’ll try to keep you posted.

P.S. What do you think about the new look?
